ROBERT HALE: AMERICA’S HEALTH CARE “HOLOCAUST”
There is a frightening comparison between the Health Care Plans proposed by Democrats and the Holocaust. However, it isn’t the one Representative Alan Grayson (D-Florida) has made in his drive to have the Democratic plan imposed on Americans. The proposed Democratic Health Care Plans contain many of the same elements the Nazi’s plan to eliminate Europe’s Jews (i.e. the Holocaust) in the 1930’s and 40’s. The unofficial death toll (there is no official death toll) of WWII is 52,000,000. Death camps, internment camps, death marches, imposed starvation of non-combatants and the deaths of non-combatants accounted for nearly half of those deaths. The extermination of Jews (the holocaust) is the best known of these atrocities. A major motivation behind Nazi programs to exterminate Jews was confiscation of their property (cash, real estate and businesses) and giving it to the state to redistribute as it saw fit. To accomplish this transfer of property the Nazi’s portrayed the Jews as bad and evil - deserving to have their property seized. Representative Grayson, from the floor of the House, took the liberty to chastise his fellow House members for allowing the “American holocaust” to continue. According to Grayson and his counterparts in the Senate the “American holocaust” is America’s failure to provide universal health care in the U.S. and impose confiscatory taxes on a small targeted group of taxpayers to fund this plan. Like the Nazi’s targeting of Jews, Grayson has targeted “the rich” to fund $500 billion of the cost of HB 3200. His colleague in the Senate, Max Backus (D-Montana), is proposing to impose $349 billion in new taxes on “high-end insurance plans (the rich), impose “fees” on insurance companies (evil doers) and on medical device manufacturers (also evil doers). In short, the professed altruistic largesse of these two is exactly the same tactic the Nazis used when targeting the Jews. Both want to go after someone they have portrayed as bad/evil and impose on them penalties for their badness and evil. Both tell their constituents it’s justified and its time it be done. Both claim the state to be the guarantor of people’s needs and wants. Both were and are selling a pig in a poke. The United States was founded to protect individual rights and protect private property from confiscation by government or anyone else. Protection of private property was an alien concept to German National Socialists. It is also alien to those pushing the Democratic Health Care Plans now before Congress. These self proclaimed Robin Hoods are attempting to visit a fairy tale upon us while stripping us of any control we may have over our health care choices. The health care plans promise to give you something at someone else’s expense. Those who believe such a system will work believe in fairy tales. Senator Backus’ plan would not pass a 10th grade economics class review. He claims he wil fund $856 billion of his plan in two master strokes. One, placing a cap on patient’s yearly health care costs (i.e. rationing) by cutting $507 billion in current government health care programs; two, by taxing insurance companies, insurance plans and medical device manufacturers $347 billion. Backus apparently believes these “new taxes” will somehow not be passed on to consumers? If government cuts $507 billion from health care spending who won’t get health care? Does anyone believe health care needs are going to shrink by a half trillion dollars because Senator Backus wishes they would? Does he believe providers of services and goods will not pass on his tax increases? Let’s apply Representative Grayson’s “holocaust” analogy accurately to Democratic Health Care Plans. The Nazi plan for Jews began with demonizing them; proceeded to confiscate their property; ended by eliminating them - the result was the “holocaust”. The Democratic Health Care Plans demonize wealthy taxpayers, medical insurance companies and medical device producers and enacting legislation to confiscate their wealth. This will result in motivating the wealthy to hide or not produce wealth and companies to either cease business or go out of business. The end result will be it shortages of services and options, escalating of costs and finally rationing or premature death which is the consequence of rationing. Our health care system will follow the fate of Social Security, Medicare, Medicade, the Post Office, Amtrak, VA hospitals, TARP. - All failures – failures whose debts are now on our shoulders and those of our children and grandchildren.
