The summer of 2020 seems to be shaping up as a test of just how much Americans are going to be willing to take.  We’ve put up with lockdowns (that is, we have not overthrown the governments that have demanded them and implemented them, although we have not agreed with them).  We have tolerated about as much mask-wearing as we can.  We have been cooperating in “social distancing” to an absurd degree.  We have left our elders to die alone in hospitals and nursing homes, last words unsaid, “due to COVID 19”.  We are losing our jobs and businesses, we are on the verge of massively losing our homes.  What is left?

Now we have spent about the same amount of time in literal war zones in our cities.  Where once we had pleasant parks, shops, sidewalk cafes to look forward to in the warm summer months we now can go and tour bombed-out destruction, burned-out shells of buildings (some may still have dead bodies in them).  And we are supposed to clean up our act.  

In 1865 we ended a brutal war in which 600,000 lives or more were lost to end slavery.  Most of these lives were white soldiers.  About 10,000 who died were black.  It was deemed worth that loss to make sure that people from then on would be free.  It took another 100 years to reach the point where society got caught up to the law.  It is impossible to legislate feelings or prejudices, but over time black Americans finally began to enjoy the opportunities available only to Americans, only to the free.

Suddenly, in 2020, all white people are being called upon to hate themselves.  Children, too.  Innocent people, many of whom have long championed equal opportunities and equal justice under our law, people who have enjoyed friendly relationships with people of all races, are shamed, ordered to repent for something - not anything they’ve ever controlled.  No one asked to be born black or white.  People just are what they are and can’t help the color they were born and no one should be asked to apologize or feel ashamed for it.  Do you agree?  If you agree then you don’t agree with “Black Lives Matter”.  

Actually, in some parts of the nation this sick mentality has been lurking for some time.  In Seattle a white yoga teacher was holding a class last summer on “undoing whiteness” - how white supremacy is in white people’s hearts, minds and bodies.  One is left to wonder.  At the end of the day, after all the workshops and classes and books and kids’ television shows, if one is still white, what next?  Concentration camps?  Gulags?  Maybe extermination?  I mean, it is hard to just stamp out a skin color.

Right now the activists of BLM are parading through residential neighborhoods in Seattle, banging on cans, yelling through bullhorns and screaming at the people in their homes to “get the f--- out”, that they need to surrender these homes to “black people” and “open their purse” and “pay the fee”.  I translate this to be a frontal attack on innocent Americans who are minding their own business and have done nothing wrong.  But that’s not good enough.  So, if you don’t agree with imposing law and order, do you advocate these people coming out in their pj’s and handing their keys over to the rioters?  (BLM must not have got the memo that their mortgage holders are probably going to get them first.)  Or should they stay indoors and hope that their homes will not be torched with them in them, like the precinct building downtown, intended to be a fiery tomb for police inside?  You tell me.

One thing these mobs have is staying power.  They have been at it now for about 80 days in Portland.  When is enough enough?  Ever?  Once known as the “City of Roses”, Portland is devastated.  How is it possible that the people of a city, most of whom are decent, hard-working people, paying their bills, trying to run their businesses and raise their families, must deal with this?  Why is the man they elected their mayor betraying them and casting his lot with the rioters?  They sure don’t respect him.  Last week we saw them humiliate him.  And the governor?  The state police have been pulled out.  The feds have largely left the scene. They had been sent in to protect the federal courthouse.  I guess that’s over.  Apparently with no law and order there is no need for a court either.  

A little boy riding his bike was shot and killed, execution style, by a neighbor in North Carolina.  To date, no one has invested in the cardboard or box of crayons to make a sign to march with over his death.  Why?  Could it be because he was a little white boy and the killer was a black man?  You know, before this summer, it wouldn’t have mattered to any decent American.  We would all have been shocked by this.  By mid-summer, 2020, all that matters is, “was he a black child?  Was the killer a white man?”  Right?  You can say, “Sure, it matters!”  But where are the protesters, then?  Where are the riots?  The broken windows?  Well, I wouldn’t want that anyway.  But the point is, the more active BLM becomes, the less justice matters, the more violence we will be subjected to in the false claim of “racism”.  

Meanwhile, that excrement of a mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, is blaming the embarrassing looting that took place last week on the famed “Miracle Mile” - you remember, the one wherein the looters rented UHauls to do their work? - was all because of President Trump’s response to COVID 19.  Oh, yeah?  What happened to last week’s excuse for rioting and looting - remember?  That it was all because of George Floyd?  Who remembers him any more?  Now it’s all about Trump.  First, looting has nothing whatsoever to do with COVID 19.  They were not looting PPC.  They were looting Gucci.  Louis Vuitton.  Not face masks or rubber gloves.  This wasn’t about a shortage of hazmat suits.  And what if it were?  Imagine that they were looting N-95 masks.  How is that any of that Trump’s fault?  Any blame for China in Chicago?  Or any blame for just failed leadership in Chicago?   Like a worthless mayor?  

Oh, but everything isn’t about looting and rioting and COVID, right?  There was other national news worth our attention last week.  For one thing, Joe Biden picked out a running mate!!  It’s Kamala Harris!  You might recall that she was one of the earliest rejects of the Democrat debate winnowing of candidates.  She had some fairly ugly things to say about old Joe then , but hey, he’s big enough . . . or something enough . . . to forget all about that mean old stuff.  So the person who is going to actually be serving if enough people vote for Biden is this woman, Kamala Harris.  What do we know about her?  Well we know she’s okay with priests raping little boys, so paedophiles can line up behind her.  She’s also made no bones about her intentions vis-a-vis the Second Amendment.  Hell, what does she care about that?  Or the rest of the old yellow parchment?  She’s “going to give Congress 100 days to get their act together” and if they haven’t banned guns by then she’s going to take matters into her own hands.  She’ll start with AR-15s.  Geez, Louise!  How brazen can you get?  How arrogant?  Aren’t you even going to wait for old Joe to drop off the vine or be committed to an asylum? Are you laughing as hard about the possible demise of Biden as you did about doing away with Trump?  Just charge in there and “give Congress 100 days to get their  act together”.  Does anyone remember that Congress is elected to enact legislation and make laws?  She’s a lawyer, she ought to have learned about the three branches of government.  And that the Vice President is not part of the legislative branch.  As a member of that branch, in the U.S. Senate, this woman wasn’t able to manage that.  I guess the Constitution just doesn’t work for her.  

And so, while mobs take over our cities, children are shot and killed without much ado, the mayors are blaming it all on people’s frustrations over “COVID 19” and President Trump and the Democrats are anointing Kamala Harris, champion of paedophiles and gun-grabbing to their ticket, the rest of us are trying to cope, standing outside the store doorway, brows furrowed, reading how “no one will be allowed to enter the store unless wearing a mask”.  Oh, and unless you are here to loot, maintain “social distancing”.

Does anyone else find this beyond absurd?  Unacceptable?  Just whose country is this?  I thought it belonged to Americans.
