Nowhere in the debate regarding health care has anyone asked if the government is able and qualified to run such a system. Before we ask the government to manage universal health care, let’s check them out.

Not only does this selective moral blindness numb us to our real national sins, it also allows the reprobate the illusion of righteousness.  In fact, while the stereotype of the self-righteous oaf is of a rightist religious zealot, a far more fitting candidate is the loopy leftist lunkhead.  He is the one who will parade about defining favored vices as virtue, worshipping sex and mammon, secure in his own saintliness because he utters nary a racial joke and bears nobly that newly-minted white man’s burden.  The modern leftist is like a Nazi who thinks he is good because he is hygienic and punctual. 

Americans are living longer - utilizing medical innovation - and paying the price. We are getting our money’s worth of longer, better quality of life!

Will undermining the the profit motive of medical technology advancement effect your life? You bet!

The world has known for many years that the wages of appeasement are the loss of moral high ground to monstrous villains.  During the Cold War, although America usually kept its military power adequate to deter Soviet aggression, the American Left (and European Left) blithely pretended that a regime which conspired with Adolph Hitler to start the Second World War, which instructed the Nazis about how to create massive camps in which millions of souls could perish – as millions had before the Nazis even came to power in Germany – and which preached as doctrine that any lie, any crime, any vice which advanced the cause of communism was morally on the same plane as America and the West.

Senator Kent Conrad touts the example of Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound (GHCPS) as an example of a health care co-op. Unfortunately, that is not a good example to use. GHCPS policy holders do not have ownership rights. They may apply for membership, but policy holders neither own the “cooperative” nor do they have full membership rights.

Ultimately, every civil program the feds attempt to manage eventually is driven into the ground and out of budget with inevitable cost overruns. Why entrust the government with yet another costly boondoggle to botch?

Now Gallup has come up with three polls in three months which deal explicitly with the ideology of Americans which confirms everything I have been writing about the strong conservative character of our country.  The Red State / Blue State map reflects a partisan divide in America, but not an ideological divide at all.  If Red State means “conservative” and Blue State means “liberal,” then guess what?  The entire map of the United States, except for a peculiar tiny rectangle carved out of southern Maryland, is Red State.  The Biggest Missing Story in Politics is still The Biggest Missing Story in Politics.  What is it that Republicans don’t get?

Did our founding fathers use the word in our Constitution?  Nope, couldn’t find any mention of it. They were focused on a republic.  So what is going on, now that our emperor, oops president, has appointed about 36 czars?  He obviously envisions himself as a person having great or unlimited power over others; an autocrat.  Where is the constitutional basis?  Is our astute congress sleeping? Do they know the constitutional basis?  Would they be willing to share it with the rest of us?  Has anyone asked the Supreme Court?

The problem with government health systems is not that they pull the plug on Grandma. It’s that Grandma has a hell of a time getting plugged in in the first place. The only way to “control costs” is to restrict access to treatment, and the easiest people to deny treatment to are the oldsters. Don’t worry, it’s all very scientific.

Senators Dorgan, Conrad and Congressman Pomeroy, there are a myriad of solutions to some of the most painful problems associated with our current health care system. Don’t turn control of our personal lives over to to government and shut down the private health care system. Look for freedom-friendly free market solutions. And fellow citizens, let’s be responsible. Let’s get creative, and let’s stop looking for parental care and crisis-relief from the government alone.

Compassion is NOT the government’s business. Compassion is the business of the Society of People. Before the advent of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and all of the other government social experiments it was the churches, local charities, the Salvation Army, and other organizations that were aware of the needs of those less fortunate. This was true compassion, not the government programs designed to “fit the needs of all”, but to make our society dependent on government.

Let’s step back just a moment and get it in perspective.  “Cash for Clunkers” was packaged as a great, innovative “stimulus” to the auto industry.  The second reason cited was that it was a sound environmental program to get old clunkers off the streets for good, replaced by new, green cars.  Win-win?

Well, except for some other, far more serious issues.  To see what they are and what they do and why we need to look at who is being hurt by this.  The poorer Americans will suffer from this program more than anyone else.  The nasty truth is that “Cash for Clunkers” is not about stimulating the economy nor about the environment.  It is nothing more nor less than a program of social engineering.

AARP makes the claim of addressing “Myths” with “Facts”. There isn’t a single reference in AARP’s “Myths vs. Facts” to any section of the ONLY health care bill (HB 3200) being considered by Congress.  How is it possible to contend the assertions made by AARP are myths or facts?  AARP cites nothing to corroborate any assertion they make! They ignore the ONLY legislation that exists!
